Deeper than forgiveness...

One evening, a Zen master was alone in his home meditating when a thief broke in demanding money or the masters life.

The master said, "Don't disturb me. Help yourself to the money. It's in the drawer over there." He then went back to his meditations.

Stunned, the thief went about his business. The master spoke up again, "Don't take it all, leave some for me so I may pay my taxes tomorrow."

The thief put a bit back and began to quietly leave so as not to disturb the master again.

The master laughed, "You took my money and didn't even thank me? That's not polite."

The thief thanked the master and fled the house. Two days later the thief was caught and confessed to robbing many houses including the Master's. When the master was called to witness he said, "That man did not steal from me, I gave him the money. He even thanked me for it."

The thief was so moved by the experience he began to meditate in jail and when he was released, he moved in with the master as a disciple and many years later, attained enlightenment.

The Master's name was Shichiri Kojun.

If you know someone or something in the deepest chamber of your heart.
You will never know betrayal...
You cannot be lied to...
You cannot be stolen from ...
You cannot have your heart broken...
You cannot lose your job...

To see the situation with ALL of your knowing. Allowing everything to be what it truly is without your definition and cipher. To feel your friends rather than have them...

Why do we set up situations to fail? Nothing is permanent. Instinctively we know this...so why have expectations to the contrary?

Maybe "forever" really means "as long as it takes."

Today and from now on. Practice knowing yourself and others for who they truly are. Do not raise expectations over situations or people that are based on your needs and desire to receive approval. See the flow of truth as you walk among the crowd. Feel the pattern of reality as you swim the currents of here and now.

Don't try to change it.
Become it.

Feel the movement. Don't deny it what belongs to it. Don't set it up to fail.
